KOBO DEBUTED what it claims is the "world's first" waterproof e-reader allowing users to read their favourite books while relaxing in the bath. With specifications very similar to those of its predecessor, the Kobo Aura HD, the waterproof equivalent boasts an updated 6.8in Carta E Ink 1430x1080 resolution touchscreen display, upgraded from the Aura HD's Pearl E Ink screen, with added IP67 certification meaning it's waterproof for up to 30 minutes in one metre of water.

Design and build
The Kobo Aura H2O features the same "slanted back" design as seen on the Aura HD, which is designed to make it feel more natural in the hand and thus more comfortable to hold for long periods of time.

Holding the Aura H2O, we found that Kobo was true to its promise, with our fingers resting naturally on the back and making it a much more pleasant device to hold when reading.

Waterproof with IP67 certification means that it's waterproof for up to 30 minutes in one metre of water - as long as the port cover is closed - the Aura HO0 means readers can read their favourite books while leaning precariously over the edge of a swimming pool, by the sea or in the bath.

Kobo demonstrated this capability at IFA A Kobo representative dunked the device in a vase of water and voila it worked perfectly.

Rumor has it this and the rest of the Kobo range will be available in the UAE mid October through all major electronics stores. A side note for UAE consumers, the library has over 4 million books and is available to shop from within the UAE using any address and credit card.
